Leo Griffiths, Tottenham’s biggest prospect, fell vertically.
British media ‘Sports Bible’ reported on the 22nd (Korea time), “Spurs’ wonderkid, who scored a goal that surpassed Harry Kane, is playing at a completely different level six years after rejecting a professional contract.”
Leo Griffiths scored 33 goals for Tottenham’s under-18 team in the 2017/18 season, almost double Kane’s goal tally for England’s under-18 team in the 2009/10 season.
Griffiths, who scored four goals in Tottenham’s 9-0 rout of North London rival Arsenal, had high expectations. Tottenham offered him a professional contract but could not reach an agreement, and Griffiths eventually retained his scholarship contract for three years.
However, Griffiths dreamed of his future with a team other than Tottenham, and both Griffiths and the club signed a document announcing the termination of the contract. At that time, numerous clubs such as PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and RB Leipzig were observing Griffiths.
Ultimately, Olympique Lyon of France’s Ligue 1 team won the race to sign Griffiths to a four-year contract, and Tottenham was granted a six-year training reward under FIFA rules. A former England youth international, Griffiths spent three and a half years in Ligue 1 but did not play in the first team.
Instead, he played for the club’s second tier team, championat national 2, scoring 13 goals. Griffiths then played in the third and fourth divisions of England for Doncaster Rovers before moving down to the National League on loan at Joville Town.
His contract with Doncaster Rovers was terminated by mutual agreement in November 2023, and he has reportedly been without a club since. However, it has been revealed that Griffiths has actually gone down to the Sunday League (Amateur League).
He plays for Critics’ FC, which is fifth in the senior division of the Essex Sunday Corinthian Football League. According to the league’s website, Griffiths has played since Dec. 1, scoring four goals in three games. After the post became popular, the club tweeted that Griffiths was using this time to “secure critical time/fitness before he went professional.” 헤라카지노도메인
