Celtic and Rangers represent the Scottish Premier League, the first division of Scottish professional football, and are two prestigious teams that are forming a rivalry. From 2010 to 2012, Ki Sung-yong (34) and Cha Doo-ri (43) played for Celtic, and it is a well-known club in Korea.
According to reports, Celtic has offered Jeonbuk a transfer fee of 3 million pounds (approximately 4.5 billion won) for the scout of Cho Kyu-sung.
Sky Sports explained, “Celtic as well as Rangers are keeping an eye on Cho Kyu-seong, but no official proposal has been made to Jeonbuk.”
Besides Celtic and Rangers, clubs that are currently showing interest in Cho include Mainz (German Bundesliga), Minnesota United (US MLS), and Ferencvaros (Hungary Nemzeti Verinoxag I), to which Lee Jae-seong (31) belongs.
Among these clubs, the place where Celtic and Celtic made a real proposal was Mainz, which offered a transfer fee of 2.5 million pounds to Cho Kyu-sung, but Celtic is currently offering a higher amount.
Mainz general manager Christian Heidel said through German media ‘Kicker’ that day, “I like Cho Kyu-sung, but if the transfer fee goes up significantly, we will give up our interest.”
Cho Kyu-seong, who scored 17 goals in the K-League 1 in the 2022 season and became the league’s top scorer, has three years remaining until 2025 on his contract with Jeonbuk.
