‘Goodbye outfield, hello second base’: LAD Betts to play second base full-time

It’s going to be hard to see Mookie Betts, 31, catching home run balls anymore. The Dodgers will use Betts exclusively at second base.

MLB Network reported on Friday (ET) that Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Dave Roberts commented on the team’s plans for Betts in 2024.

According to the report, Roberts plans to use Betts exclusively at second base in 2024. Betts will move from his traditional right field position to second base. 토토사이트

Betts has played multiple positions since his major league debut in 2014. He’s played second base, center field, and right field, showing off his athleticism.

After a period of time in right field, Betts returned to multi-position play in 2018, playing 98 games in right field, 65 at second base, and 14 at shortstop last season.

Betts was a shortstop in high school and played second base in the minors. Once he reached the majors, he switched positions due to the presence of Dustin Pedroia.

As such, Betts should have no problem settling in at second base. Betts has also made it clear that he is more comfortable in the infield.

In 152 games last season, Betts hit .307 with 39 home runs, 107 RBI, 126 runs scored, 179 runs batted in, a .408 OPS, and a .987 slugging percentage.

Those were his best numbers outside of the 2018 season. However, Betts slumped in the final month of the season and failed to win the National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
