‘200 wins’ Kershaw named ‘Pitcher of the Month’ in 7 years

Clayton Kershaw (35), a star of the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB), was selected as the National League pitcher who performed the most outstandingly in April.

Kershaw was selected as the National League (NL) Pitcher of the Month. This is the 7th award in his personal career, and it has been 7 years since May 2016.

Kershaw started 6 games during the month of April and pitched 38 innings, going 5-1 with an ERA of 1.89. He struck out 41 batters, bringing his strikeout rate to 9.7 per nine innings.

Ronald Acuña Jr. (Atlanta Braves) from the NL and Matt Chapman (Toronto Blue Jays) from the AL were named as Players of the Month, respectively.

Acuña Jr. had a batting average of 0.352, an on-base percentage of 0.440, and a slugging percentage of 0.546 in 27 games last month. He hit 9 doubles on 4 home runs, and harvested 14 RBIs. He also made 13 stolen bases.

Chapman played an active part in 27 games with a batting average of 0.384, 5 homers and 21 RBIs. His OPS (on-base percentage + slugging percentage) reached 1.152.

The NL and AL Rookie of the Month went to James Outman of the Dodgers and Josh Young of the Texas Rangers.
