Can Shohei Ohtani (LA Dodgers) play as a pitcher in this year’s postseason?
MLB.COM reported on the 14th (Korea Standard Time) that “it seemed impossible at the beginning of the season, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he did not rule out the possibility.”
“I think we should always leave a little margin and a gap in any possibility,” Roberts said on the Serious XM MLB Network radio. “If the situation is consistent and there is a need and the game and (Otani’s) body is fine, it is telling us that everything is meaningful in that situation.”
He added that it is “unfair” to assume that Ohtani will definitely take the mound in the playoffs, but his possibility of returning is a big development for a team that has frequent pitcher injuries this season.
Ohtani, who underwent surgery on his right elbow in September, recently pitched on the mound for the first time. Though he had planned to face off with batters in practice before the end of the season, club officials have previously stated that Ohtani will not pitch at any point this year. However, in the end, he may have a chance.
“Shohei joined us,” Roberts said. “He will continue his rehabilitation process, and I think Ohtani will be able to throw enough balls (in the postseason). We’ll see how it goes.” 메이저놀이터
The Dodgers didn’t just give Ohtani $700 million for 10 years.
