The last of the only pitchers in 41 years of history…The farewell stage of the ’61-year-old history’ stadium created by the passion of “I really want to throw it.”

It was a rare sight to see in 1,004 games. The 1,005th was special.

The game between the Hanwha Eagles and the NC Dinos, which will take place at Hanwha Life Eagles Park on Sunday, is a showdown between the Hanwha Eagles and the NC Dinos.
Hanwha will use its new stadium from 2025. Eagles Park, which opened in 1964 and marks its 61st anniversary this year, will disappear into history.

Hanwha’s last game at Eagles Park and the final game in 2024. One player who made history in the KBO League will end his active career.

Jung Woo-ram (39) joined the SK Wyverns (current SSG Landers) in 2004 and moved to the Hanwha Eagles in 2016 and pitched 977 ⅓ innings, recording 64 wins, 47 losses, 197 saves and 145 holds with an ERA of 3.18.

Jung Woo-ram is the only pitcher who has thrown more than 1,000 games in the 42-year history of the KBO League. Even in the MLB, which boasts a history of well over 100 years, only 16 pitchers have thrown more than 1,000 games.

Jung played in more than 50 games during 15 seasons out of 18 except for the 2013-2014 season, during which he served in the military, showing his outstanding self-management skills. He has been an inspiration to many juniors as he is synonymous with hard work and consistency. 스포츠토토

Last year, he pitched 40 ⅓ innings and recorded eight holds in 52 games, but he will not take the mound in the first team this season. While playing coach, he coached junior players in the remaining team.

Jung Woo-ram showed his willingness to take the mound. Hanwha manager Kim Kyung-moon said, “Jung Woo-ram really wants to throw a batter. I think he will face a batter.”

Hanwha announced Wednesday that Jung Woo-ram will be its starting pitcher. There has never been a starter Jung Woo-ram during 1,004 games.

If Jung Woo-ram takes the mound, it will be the first time in 349 days since his scoreless appearance in the ⅓ inning against the Lotte Giants on October 16, 2023.

Jung Woo-ram announced his retirement in a press release from the club. “I have been able to stand on the mound for a long time with the help and love of so many people, including the Hanwha Eagles team,” he said. “I sincerely thank everyone who supported and helped me.”
