Lee Kang-in is well-received at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Luis Campos, the general manager, revealed this directly while commenting on the transfer of Lamine Yamal.
Campos recently mentioned Lee Kang-in regarding Yamal’s transfer to PSG at the Thinking Football Summit in Portugal. “If the names of all the players in the media related to PSG were here, we would have five-star stars in each position. Of course, I like Yamal, but I also like Usman Dembele, Lee Kang-in, and Marco Asensio. They are fantastic players at a tremendous level,” he said.
He added, “If I say Yamal is not a great player, it would be a great mistake. He is a good player 토토사이트, and I am very happy to play at that level. But PSG is very happy with the players in this position.”
Yamal is considered one of the world’s top prospects. Born in 2007, Yamal joined Barcelona’s youth team, La Masia, at the age of 5. With immense potential, Yamal continued to grow through stormy growth. He made his debut as a pro last season when he turned 16 years old, making his first professional debut. Yamal’s debut marked the youngest age in Barcelona’s history.
Yamal established himself as a key player in Barcelona last season and made a name for himself in La Liga. He started in the second round against Cádiz, breaking the record of being the youngest player to start again in La Liga. In the third round against Villarreal, he scored a header assist to Gabi’s first goal and became the youngest player to break the record by scoring a debut goal in the match against Granada. Yamal has strengthened his position by playing in 37 matches in the league and scoring five goals and five assists.
He became a star player at the UEFA Euro 2024. Yamal, who made the shortlist for the Spanish national team even though he was born in 2007, played in all seven matches for Spain and showed off his attack ability along with Nico Williams as he took charge of the right side of the second line. He became Spain’s leading player by scoring one goal and four assists. He became the youngest player to play in the history of the Euro and broke the record of being the youngest player to score points, and the youngest ever to assist.
Rumors of a transfer with PSG surfaced once last summer. With Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid, PSG wanted to fill in the vacancy with Yamal. “PSG is willing to pay 250 million euros (370 billion won) to sign Yamal,” Spain’s Mundo Deportivo reported. “Barcelona is already aware of this.” The amount exceeded the 222 million euros that Barcelona incurred when it sent Neymar to PSG.
However, Yamal’s transfer did not happen. Campos dismissed rumors about Yamal’s transfer, saying that he is satisfied with the current PSG squad including Lee Kang-in. As Lee Kang-in’s name came out directly from the general manager’s mouth, it shows the evaluation and expectation that Lee Kang-in is receiving within PSG.
Lee Kang-in, who was active on the Spanish stage, completed his transfer to PSG last summer. During the first half of the season, Lee Kang-in began to adapt to the French stage. Although he returned from a short absence due to injury and a transfer to the Asian Games shortly after the opening of the season, he helped his team attack by scoring his debut goal in the UEFA Champions League and his debut goal in the league. After the 2023 Qatar Asian Cup, there was more time for replacement and selection, but he was trusted by Luis Enrique as he was given various roles.
In his first season after moving to PSG, Lee became a triple crown. He experienced his first career league championship and lifted the trophy at Trope de Champion and Coupe de France. Lee had three goals and four assists in 23 league matches, one goal and one assist in nine UEFA Champions League matches, and participated in three Coupe de France matches. At Trope de Champion, he scored the finishing goal to lead his team to victory.
Since the opening of this season, Lee has been showing even more robust performance. Lee Kang-in became the first goal in the opening match of the Ligue 1 team against Le Havre in the second half. It was the fastest goal in the opening match since Mamadou Niang scored at 1:42 of the 2009-10 season in Ligue 1. He showed off his scoring ability in the match against Montpellier in the next game. Lee Kang-in added his sixth goal after being put in the 16th minute of the second half with PSG leading 5-0.
Nevertheless, Enrique is not giving Lee Kang-in more chances. In the third round against Lille last time, Lee Kang-in started off the bench for two consecutive games. It wasn’t until the 29th minute of the second half that he entered the ground, but he played 16 minutes, playing less time than before. During the league break, Lee Kang-in showed off his compliance performance against Palestine and Oman in the second consecutive round of the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA North-China World Cup. It remains to be seen whether Enrique will be sent as a starter in the upcoming match against Brest.
