On the 22nd, President Yoon Suk Yeol invited all the 2024 Paris Olympics athletes to hold a dinner event and encourage them.

The dinner was held to encourage the team with the highest tie record in away games with a total of 32 medals by dispatching the smallest team since the 1984 LA Olympics, former spokesman Jeong Hye-jeon said in a written briefing. It was an event that was a combination of cultural events with 270 participants, including President Yoon’s couple, the team, family, leaders, and local Korean lunch box cooks in Paris.

As for the dinner menu, tenderloin steak was served. The presidential office said, “Kim personally chose the menu to serve meat to younger players so that they could cheer up.”

The commemorative medal, which was personally proposed by President Yoon, was delivered to all 144 athletes and 90 leaders of the Olympic Games. Team Korea is inscribed on the front of the medal, and “You, who represented the Republic of Korea at the 2024 Paris Olympics, are heroes to all of us.” The message was written by President Yoon himself.

Mrs. Kim Gun-hee presented the medal directly to Shin Eun-chul, who was the only Korean athlete to compete in sports climbing speed events, and coach Kim Sung-jin, who coached Sung Seung-min, who became the first Asian woman to win a bronze medal in modern pentathlon.

When President Yoon entered the venue, he greeted many athletes. He sent messages of encouragement and support not only to medalists but also to Ahn Se-young and all other athletes who did their best despite difficulties such as injury.

In particular, President Yoon also encouraged badminton player Ahn Se-young, who recently confronted the association regarding player support, saying, “He showed a really great game, a really moving game in every set,” adding, “I think it was possible because our Ahn Se-young tried so hard and overcame many injuries, including knee injuries.”
