Oman, which lost to Hong Myung-bo, is the first team to change its coach after two World Cup qualifiers

Oman, which lost to Hong Myung-bo in the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup, has put a strong force in replacing the coach.

The Oman Football Association announced on the 20th (Korea Standard Time) that it has broken up with coach Jaroslav Silhabi and appointed Rashid Jaber from its own country.
The Oman Football Association said on social media that the contract was terminated by mutual agreement with coach Silhabi from the Czech Republic and his division.

Silhavi, who led the Czech Republic to the quarterfinals at the Euro 2020 (2020 European Championship), took the helm of Oman in February. His contract lasted until 2026.

Oman, which was on the verge of elimination from the second round of the North-China World Cup at the time, advanced to the third round with three wins and one draw after coach Silhabi took office.

However, he lost the first two games of the third qualifying round and was on the verge of elimination again.

Oman, which lost 0-1 in an away match against Iraq, was defeated 1-3 in the second game against South Korea led by head coach Hong Myung-bo, falling to the bottom of the six teams in Group B.

In the match against Korea, they played a tight 1-1 match until the middle of the second half, but lost to Son Heung-min (Tottenham) and Joo Min-kyu (Ulsan) at the last minute.

In the end, the Oman Football Association rejected coach Silhabi and put its own leader as the head coach.

“We have a difficult challenge ahead. We need to restore our mental strength and confidence to achieve our national mission,” Jabeur said. “We will seriously try to seize the opportunity in the upcoming games.” 스포츠토토
