Lim Sung-jae tied for 14th on the first day of the Tour Championship, the final FedEx Cup playoff game of the PGA Tour.
Lim Sung-jae shot a 2-under 69 with five birdies and three bogeys in the first round on the first day of the tournament at East Lake Golf Club (par 71, 7,490 yards) in Atlanta, Georgia on the 30th (Korea time).
Lim Sung-jae, who started with 3 under-par bonus strokes in 11th place in the FedEx Cup standings before the tournament, recorded 5 under-par, slightly falling to a tie for 14th place.
The Tour Championship, the final round of the playoffs, is a competition in which only the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings participate.
Before this competition, the competition will start with a bonus stroke according to the FedEx Cup ranking, and the player who wins the competition will be the PGA Tour FedEx Cup champion in the 2024 season.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the U.S. started the competition with a 10-under-par bonus given to the No. 1 FedEx Cup before the competition.
Scheffler cut six shots with seven birdies and one bogey to 16 under par, widening the gap with the joint second place to a whopping seven shots.
Before the start of the tournament, Xander Shopley of the U.S., the runner-up at the FedEx Cup, was second, two strokes behind Scheffler at 8 under par.
Scheffler also started the Tour Championship at 10-under par in 2022 and 2023, but yielded the FedEx Cup throne to Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) in 2022 and Viktor Hovlan (Norway) last season.
The winner of the competition will be given $25 million (about 33.3 billion won) in bonuses for the top spot in the FedEx Cup.
Shopley cut only one shot to 9 under par, tied for second with Colin Morikawa of the U.S., who shot 5 under par on the day.
Lim Sung-jae started off with a bad start to all holes 1 to 3 on the day, but since then, he has caught five birdies without a bogey.
Ahn Byung-hoon, who started with two under par in 16th place at the FedEx Cup, had two birdies without a bogey on the day, but his ranking fell to a 4-under par tie for 20th place. 먹튀검증
Last year’s FedEx Cup champion Hoblan also finished the first day of the match tied for 20th with Ahn Byung-hoon at 4 under par.
McIlroy, who is trying to win the FedEx Cup for the first time in history, is 6 under par and tied for 10th.
In addition to McIlroy (three times), only two players have won the FedEx Cup, which was created in 2007, including Tiger Woods (USA), who won the title twice.
