Yoon Na-na, who has two KLPGA Tour wins, expressed her intention to challenge for the LPGA Tour.
In the first round of the KLPGA Tour Hana Financial Group Championship held at Bear’s Best Cheongna in Incheon on the 26th, Yoon Na shot 7-under 65 with seven birdies without a bogey. She finished the first day of the tournament with Hong Hyun-ji as a joint leader.
After the game, Yoon Na said, “I was very worried because my ankle was not good,” adding, “Fortunately, I had a good shot and putt. The result of the game came out that I did not expect.”
Last February, Yuna sprained her right ankle. She has been participating in competitions after receiving treatment. However, her condition worsened as she continued to play.
Yoon-na explained, “The hospital said my ankle was filled with water. I have a little pain when I swing. I couldn’t play in the Daebo Houseie Open last week because of my ankle.”
In the first round, Yoon Na played with LPGA Tour slugger Patti Tawatanakit national team Oh Soo-min.
“Both players wanted to play,” Yoon said. “Playing with players who are far away allowed me to focus more. It was an opportunity that led to good performance.”
Yoon is ranked second in driving distance in average during the KLPGA tour this season. Tawatanakit is a slugger with an average driving distance of 272 yards. Oh Soo-min is also said to be armed with both long balls and accuracy. For this reason, the three players also had a showdown over long balls.
“I wasn’t aware of long balls because of my bad ankle. I didn’t get stimulated by the flying distance or have a sense of competition,” Yoon said. “It was different every time, but the impact was similar. I think I flew about 245 meters.”

“In Korea, there are few opportunities to play with LPGA Tour players,” Yoon Na said. “Tawatanakit seems to have excellent course management and short games, and Oh Soo-min seems to have excellent play and accuracy.”
Yoon said, “I also have a dream to join the LPGA Tour. I haven’t decided on the time, but I will go to the U.S. someday.”
Yoon, who was tied for first on the first day of the competition, said, “If she wins, she may become the leader in individual titles depending on the performance of other players. I didn’t aim to win. I’m focusing on hitting hard and getting in tune with the rhythm.”
Yoon Na-na said, “Record-breaking things such as winning the title and winning the prize money are not something I can say I want to do. If I do my best as I have done so far, it will come to me like a gift.”
